Understanding the Math
1. Standard Deduction
For salaried employees, a flat deduction is subtracted from your Gross Income before calculating tax.
New Regime: ₹75,000.
Old Regime: ₹50,000.
2. The "Marginal Relief" Safety Net
In the New Regime, Net Taxable Income (Gross Income minus Standard Deduction) up to ₹12 Lakhs is tax-free.
Example: If your Gross Salary is ₹12,75,100, your Taxable Income becomes ₹12,00,100.
Without relief, crossing the limit by just ₹100 would trigger the full tax of ~₹60,000.
This calculator applies Marginal Relief. It ensures you only pay the excess amount earned (₹100) as tax.
3. Surcharge Relief
For high earners (> ₹50 Lakhs), Surcharge applies. If the Surcharge amount makes your post-tax income lower than if you had earned exactly ₹50 Lakhs, we apply relief to cap the Surcharge.
Disclaimer: This tool estimates liability based on the Finance Bill 2025 provisions. While we account for complex rules like marginal relief, tax laws are subject to interpretation. We recommend verifying your final liability on the Official Income Tax Portal or consulting a CA.
